（甍）屋棟也。棟者、極也。屋之高處也。方言。？謂之？。廣雅作甍謂之？。每夢一聲之轉。之蒸合韵之理。棟自屋中言之、故从木。甍自屋表言之、故从瓦。爾雅、方言謂之？者、屋極爲分水之脊。雨水各從高
瓦而下也。釋名曰。甍、蒙也。在上覆蒙屋也。左傳子之援廟桷、動於甍。未詳其說。从瓦。夢省聲。莫耕切。古音在六部。按惟此篆主謂屋瓦。故先之。
